2023-03-23ICASA invites interested stakeholders to a virtual consultation workshop to engage on the impact of load-shedding on the electronic communications, broadcasting, and postal services sectors, and to identify potential mitigation measures that lie within the scope of the Authority.
This workshop follows the announcement made by President Cyril Ramaphosa on 9 February 2023, during the 2023 State of the Nation Address, that the Minister of Cooperative Governance and Traditional Affairs has declared a national state of disaster in response to the ongoing electricity crisis and its effects.

ICASA prepares to amend the Annexure B of the Radio Frequency Spectrum Regulations in respect of Short-Range Devices
2022-12-15ICASA has published the Draft Amendment Radio Frequency Spectrum Regulations, 2022. The amendment regulations include an updated list of radio apparatus whose use or possession shall not require a radio frequency spectrum licence.
ICASA approves the applications from Dark Fibre Africa to transfer the ownership and control of their I-ECS and I-ECNS licences
2022-11-09On October 21, 2022, the Independent Communications Authority of South Africa approved a series of applications by Dark Fibre Africa to transfer the ownership and control of their I-ECS and I-ECNS licences. The effective date for the transfer of the licences is 01 December 2022.
