Johannesburg – The Complaints and Compliance Committee (CCC) will hear a matter lodged by Transnet (SOC) Ltd against MTN for the latter’s alleged refusal to port certain numbers to another mobile network operator in line with the Number Portability Regulations.
The CCC has decided to hear this matter on an urgent basis in terms of regulation 6 of the Regulations Governing the Aspects of the Complaints and Compliance Committee Procedures.
“This public hearing will afford both parties an opportunity to express their views on the matter and assist the Committee to resolve this alleged non-compliance in line with applicable laws,” says ICASA Council’s Dr Keabetswe Modimoeng.
Number portability Regulations are an important pro-consumer regulations aimed at stimulating competition and promoting consumer choice in their consumption of electronic communications services.
