ICASA TO HOLD PUBLIC HEARINGS ON THE DRAFT CALL TERMINATION AMENDMENT REGULATIONS, 2024

The Independent Communications Authority of South Africa (“ICASA") will hold public oral hearings on the Draft Call Termination Amendment Regulations of 2024 (“the draft Amendment Regulations”), in accordance with Section 4(6) of the Electronic Communications Act No.36 of 2005, as amended.

The Authority published the draft Amendment Regulations in Government Gazette No. 11680 on 22 March 2024. The closing date for submissions was the 10th of May 2024.

These regulations are expected to make a substantial impact on the pricing structure of voice calls in South Africa, which remains an important segment of the market and which has an important role to play in reducing the cost to communicate.

Members of the media, interested stakeholders and members of the public are invited to attend the public hearings, which will be conducted in hybrid format, as follows:

Date:  Thursday, 13 June 2024

Venue: ICASA Head Office (350 Witch-Hazel Avenue, Eco point office park centurion)

Time: 8:30am
