The Independent Communications Authority of South Africa (ICASA) and the National Metrology Institute of South Africa (NMISA) entered into a strategic collaboration agreement this week.

The CEO for ICASA, Mr Willington Ngwepe, and the CEO for NMISA, Mr Ndwakhulu Mukhufhi, signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) during a video-conference signing ceremony between the two entities.

ICASA is preparing to publish the Invitation To Apply (ITA) for both the Wireless Open Access Network (WOAN) and the International Mobile Telecommunications (IMT) spectrum, also known as high demand spectrum in line with its strategic objectives. 

ICASA calls for communities to comply with the closing date with regards to applications for community radio stations

Today (10 June 2020) marks the end of term of four ICASA Councillors. The Authority would like to wish them well and takes this opportunity to thank them for executing their duties with diligence and commitment to their oaths of office.

ICASA staff will, pending any further announcement, continue to work remotely during Alert Level-3 of the COVID-19 national lockdown.

ICASA has published the Final Radio Frequency Spectrum Assignment Plan (RSFAP) for the Frequency Band 470 to 694 MHz, thereby providing a plan for the phased approach in implementing the analogue television switch-off into Digital Terrestrial Television (DTT) through a Single Frequency Network.
