As South Africa prepares itself for the upcoming national and provincial elections on 29 May, the Independent Communications Authority of South Africa has published an Amendment to the National and Provincial Party Elections Broadcasts and Political Advertisements Regulations, 2014, on 26 February 2024.

The Independent Communications Authority of South Africa has concluded the first phase evaluation of the pre-registration applications for Community Television Broadcasting Service and Radio Frequency Spectrum licences for the provision of community television broadcasting services on Multiplex 1 (Mux-1) frequencies.

The Independent Communications Authority of South Africa hereby wishes to inform all stakeholders of the extension date for the submission of written representations and written responses in respect of the notice published on 06 December 2023 in Notice No: 2216, Government Gazette No. 49831 regarding the applications submitted by Cell C Limited for the approval of the transfer of control of its Individual Electronic Communications Network Service (“I-ECNS”), Individual Electronic Communications Service (“I-ECS”) and Radio Frequency Spectrum (“RFS”) licences to The Prepaid Company (Pty) Limited.

The Independent Communications Authority of South Africa hereby gives notice that it will be holding virtual public hearings in respect of the Draft National and Provincial Party Elections Broadcasts and Political Advertisements Amendment Regulations[1], in accordance with section 4(6) of the Electronic Communication Act, 2005 (Act No. 36 of 2005), as amended (ECA).
